Skeptic News: Mabus Arrested

From: Montreal Police Twitter

The Montreal police have announced that Dennis Markuze, AKA David Mabus, has been arrested for  social media harassment (breach of probation).

Under the pseudonym Mabus Markuze had been targeting the atheist and skeptic communities with threats and harassment for years. PZ Myers has been receiving Mabus spam and threats for around two decades. Many of these tweets, emails and forum posts were simply vulgar rants against anyone who promoted atheism or questioned the prophecies of Nostradamus. Particularly those phrophecies that apparently predicted Depeche Mode would play on the roof of the twin towers.

One of Mabus favourite rants included the odd legend “Goats on fire!”. The significance of this phrase is not known at this time.

But there are a number that clearly imply a threat: “Kicking in the heads of atheists one at a time…,” “now we are going to bury you…,” “we’re this far from nuking all of you….” But many of the recipients also reported obvious threats to themselves and their families.

For these threats Mabus was charged in August 2011  after threatening a Montreal journalist. He was banned from harassing atheists and skeptics online and sent for treatment at a rehabilitation clinic.

Mabus seemingly could not resist the urge to argue with and spam the internets many Skeptics and atheists however and breached his parole by continuing his irritating and worrying activities.
