Skeptic News: TV Psychic in £800k 'fix' row

From: Daily Mirror

TV psychic Anne Germain has been accused of conning audience members by using a researcher to compile dossiers on their dead relatives.

The Brit medium is at the centre of a storm in Spain where she is accused of conning her way to raking in an estimated £800,000. It is claimed that seemingly amazing revelations about members of her audience and their dead relatives had been compiled for her by a researcher. She is also accused of being fed key details through an earpiece.

The dismayed 52-year-old says she has received death threats since the claims were made in a Spanish newspaper.

It says it has seen copies of briefs prepared for Mrs Germain and allegedly handed to her before she met members of the crowd at her £60-a-ticket packed live shows and on her TV series.

In one encounter, it is claimed “spiritual medium” Mrs Germain had a dossier saying one audience member had worked at the family’s pottery business. A section headed “deceased loved ones”, informed Mrs Germain of the name and age of the person’s relative as well as how they died. In the subsequent show, the medium claimed to be communicating with the deceased and told the person: “She is showing different pots, plates and glasses.”

The claims are similar to those levelled at Sally Morgan and Peter Popoff and perhaps go some way to expose the despicable and manipulative practice of “hot reading”.
