Mobile phones CAN cause brain tumours, according to the latest Italian court ruling on science.
Italian businessman Innocente Marcolini, 60, fell ill after using a handset at work for up to six hours every day for 12 years.
Now Italy’s Supreme Court in Rome has blamed his phone. Experts have predicted a flood of legal actions from victims.
Stricken Mr Marcolini last night warned: “People must be told the risks.” Hewas diagnosed with a brain tumour after complaining of head and chin pains. And yesterday his country’s Supreme Court stated there was a “causal link” between his heavy phone use and the growth.
British scientists have claimed there is insufficient evidence to prove any link to mobiles.
Indeed it is not just British scientists but scientists worldwide who have rejected this link.
This latest case is just one of many where the Italian courts have deemed themselves better placed than scientists and researchers to rule on scientific and medical matters. Previously the courts had ruled there was a link between autism and MMR and allowed a prosecution to be be brought against Italian seismologists for failing to predict an earthquake.
