A FRENCHMAN who threatened to use ‘black magic’ on a garda when he was arrested for causing a disturbance on a Dublin Street has been jailed for 75 days.
Abdourahuane Soumare (36) threatened to cast a ‘spell’ on the officer, telling him “something horrible” would happen to him within two weeks of the arrest.
Soumare had been arrested for hurling obscenities at the garda after he was asked to move from the middle of a busy city centre street.
Judge Cormac Dunne sentenced him after finding him guilty of using threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour in the incident.
Soumare, with an address at North Circular Road, had denied the charge, maintaining that he was picked out because he was the only black person crossing the road.
Judge Dunne said he had no doubt whatsoever the defendant’s behaviour amounted to a breach of the peace.
