Skeptic News: At the Fringe of Reason

Everyone on the Edinburgh Fringe wants to sell out and it’s sometimes joked that the easiest way to sell out is to have no tickets to sell. However Edinburgh Skeptics free “Fringe of Reason” events kicked off their third year with yet another full house.

The queue stretched out of the skeptics modest venue at the Banshee Labyrinth Cinema room and down Niddry Street. Those who arrived early enough were able to secure their seats to see Richard Wiseman open the third year of the Skeptics on the Fringe festival. But the organisers would like to apologise to the fifty odd people they had to turn away lest they smash fire regulations!

The night was well received by the packed audience, despite technical hitches with the venues projector, and once again proved that there is an appetite for science and skepticism as well as comedy and the arts at the worlds largest international arts festival.

A representative of Edinburgh Skeptics is quoted as saying on the groups facebook page regarding queue sizes:

“It isn’t just a sales tactic when we say arrive early to get a place!”

The full lineup of events can be found here and the action can be followed on twitter from @edskeptics and the hashtag #SotF.
