Skeptic News: Anti-Vax Attempt to Block Skeptic Blogs

By Lee Christie

Two skeptic blogs: reasonablehank, and Losing In The Lucky Country have been targeted by an anti-vax–motivated censorship. The method, making false reports to the Trend Micro as containing spam and malware, causing users of this service to be blocked unless they are willing to risk ignoring the service’s warning.

Reasonablehank alleges that the trouble was caused by Liz Hempel (@SAVNGodComplex, although her Twitter account is now suspended). For more information, check out reasonablehank’s blog on the subject, which contains a transcript of the related Twitter conversation.

Thankfully, Trend Micro has co-operated, and both websites have now been re-rated as safe in Trend Micro Security Center.

Oh dear. Where do I begin with this disasterous piece of journalism?

I was the first to alert Hank to the warning. Now he is blaming the ‘anti-vax trolls’ for falsely reporting his site. Not sure why any ‘anti-vax troll’ would want to actually alert him to their handiwork, if they were indeed responsible. Unfortunately Hank has not been able to provide a shred of evidence to back up his claims. This is however the norm with many of Hank’s blogs, which is why we at AVN tend to take most of them with little more than a pinch of salt.
Why anyone would waste their time attempting to censor such a pile of rubbish is completely beyond me.

One last thing, though it is important. If you really must insist on making me famous, I suggest you take the time to learn how to spell my last name. It is HEMPEL.

    Thanks 😉

    Fixed your name. Sorry, Liz.
