Skeptic News: Anti-Science Militants Shoot Italian Scientist

By Les Ogilvie

An anarchist group with the unmemorable title “the Olga Nucleus of the Informal Anarchist Federation-International Revolutionary Front” has reportedly kneecapped an Italian nuclear scientist, and has warned of further attacks.

The group appear to be espousing an anti-science ideology, claiming in their manifesto (link in Italian):

“Science in centuries past promised us a golden age, but it is pushing us towards self destruction and slavery. With our action we give back to you a small part of the suffering that you scientists are bringing to the world.”

The current focus of their anger appears to be the Italian nuclear industry. Their victim, Roberto Adinolfi, is a senior executive at state-controlled nuclear firm Ansaldo Nucleare and the group has criticised him for voicing the opinion that none of the deaths in Japan’s tsunami disaster were attributable to radiation from the Fukushima incident.

The group has promised further attacks.

Full story is reported in the Guardian.
