Skeptic News: ASSAP recognised by UK government

ASSAP Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena has been recognized by the UK government as a professional body for investigators of anomalous phenomena. Their website states:

“What the recognition does mean is that investigations of anomalous phenomena are now “seen as being capable of being a professional activity [and] that is good for everyone.”

The Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena (ASSAP) is a United Kingdom-based education and research charity founded in 1981 with the aim of scientifically investigate alleged paranormal and anomalous phenomena.

The move does not imply that the government has taken a position on the existence, or otherwise, of things that go bump in night but simply that it has declared the ASSAP the professional body for who you’re gonna call.
